This is a sad news item about a Bald Eagle, but it is an important one to share. Although these birds are not endangered anymore, they are still federally protected. Any harm committed against a Bald Eagle is a crime, and if sharing this story helps bring awareness to this fact, then we must do our part. Please share as well to help spread the word!

EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission are seeking information on the shooting of a bald eagle near Beaver Lake. The bird was found dead on March 9 in the Hogscald Hollow area of the lake. The Game and Fish Commission says evidence at the scene indicates the eagle was killed with a rifle on March 8 or 9.  A reward of up to $6,000 is being offered for information leading to a conviction in the case.
