Dogs Can Understand Facial Expressions?

I have often thought my dogs can recognize and understand my facial expressions. It was just a gut feeling, but a strong gut feeling. Now, it looks as if there may be some evidence about dogs knowing your facial expressions:

Domestic dogs (such as the border collie pictured) can recognize our expressions. Whether it’s with a sympathetic tilt of the head or the excited sweep of a tail, dogs seem to be saying they can sense exactly what we’re feeling. Science is still undecided on the matter, although evidence in favor of the idea is stacking up.
